“We have been ramping up for this Friday’s opening all spring and are really looking forward to the summer season,” said Mike Manara, director of sports and guest services in a press release. “The crew has been working incredibly hard maintaining the current trail system. With the late-season addition of Blue Hammer last summer, we are opening up with eight trails from Green Line to Back in Black.”
As Vancouver Island’s only gravity-fed lift-accessed bike park, Mt. Washington offers trails for all levels of rider.
New this year is a bike skills area, located right at the base of the Alpine Lodge. As part of the Bike Park, the skills area will allow riders to become familiar with features similar to those found in the trail system. The Bike Park will also see additional development on the Green Line trail.
“Green Line will see an off-shoot trail added to it this season that will sweep and flow around, providing beginners with two line choices.” continues Manara. "We will also be rebuilding and revamping the 4x course and completing our work on Time Warp."
