ROXBURY, NY – Plattekill Bike Park recently announced reduced hours for 2017, citing increased competition from a growing number of bike parks in the Northeast region. Entering its 24th year, Plattekill will only load bikes on lifts for what it is calling "key weekends" during the 2017 season.
It's that time of year. Your social media feeds are likely full of autumn colors from riding camarades and at the same time, powder pics from resorts already pushing ski passes. But if you're like us, you're looking to get the most bike park laps possible before the lifts stop loading bikes. And with more bike parks than ever before operating long into October (and November), it's all time fall time for some of the best laps of the season.
ROXBURY, NY – Platekill Bike Park will call it quits for the season Sunday, September 18. The New York Resort will open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for its final weekend, and re-open Columbus Weekend (October 8-9) for one more weekend of mountain biking in conjunction with the Eastern States Cup DH Races and PLATTEPALOOZA.
JACKSON, WY – Now in its third year, the MTBparks.com Riders’ Choice Awards survey carries with it an undeniable momentum, and for us, has become an official start to the summer riding season. And then on Super Tuesday, as we compiled the results while much of the country kicked off a heated election season, we couldn’t help but draw parallels to our nation’s politics.
ROXBURY, NY – Plattekill Mountain announced that it will partially open its bike park this weekend, March 19 and 20, while still operating skiing and snowboarding on select runs. Tickets will be $35, giving riders acces to any discipline they choose. The mixed-use soft opening makes it the first bike park to open for the season in North America, year-round resorts not withstanding.

With the summer months dropping off the calendar one by one and the days growing shorter, many of us begin to go into bike park panic mode. In many parts of the country, even our local trails aren't accessible all year long, let alone the lift-served gravity goodness that has become a beacon of the summer months for those seeking a downhill fix.
