And to riders visiting for the weekend's Canada Cup #2 and BC Cup #2 downhill race, they found out exactly how gnarly the riding really is in this small village just outside of Kamloops. One glance at the race results, and you can immediately tell that having some familiarity with the region's terrain definitely played a part in determining your standing at the finish line.

Spokane, WA – The All Gravity Series kicks off the 2013 downhill bike racing season at Beacon Hill once again. Double Down Hoe Down #5 will be running the same format as all previous years with one single run race, and two seperate days of racing. Both days will count individually in overall series points.
The Esatern States Cup always offers a great chance to ride some of the best mountain bike courses and trails bike riders love in the Eastern US. Developed in 2010 as a USA Cycling Eastern Regional Championship Series and featured two USA Cycling State Championships, the Eastern States Cup has proven to be a popular formula bringing together the best mtb racers and top mtb venues. In 2011 and 2012 the series saw tremendous growth, offering the USAC Regional and three state championships. 2013 will be even bigger as several events, including an Enduro and SuperD Series have been added to the calendar as well.
Bootleg Canyon, NV – Boulder City, Nevada, home to Bootleg Canyon Mountain Bike Park, once again hosts USA Cycling’s Nevada State Downhill Championships from January 18 - 21, 2013. Event promoters have worked hard this year making sure that this Holiday Weekend (MLK) works best for all racers. In the past the Nevada State Champs shared the same date as the Southridge Series.
Whistler, BC – Crankworx Whistler’s Garbanzo DH is infamous for being the world’s longest DH track used in competition. Canadian World Cup racer Steve Smith has been defeated by the very long and technical track the last four times he has raced it; either crashing or just not going fast enough. This year Smith finally defeated his nemesis, crossing the finish line with a time of 12:33. 27, an impressive feat considering the length of the course is 12km and drops 3,400 vertical feet

Beech Mountain, NC — Well, it’s finally here… the battle for the best in the US started today for the second and final round to be Beech in the Southeast for the first time in more than 10 years. Arguably, the biggest thing on the minds of most was the stars and stripes decorated that coveted annual sleeve. What would we see this year? Who has what to prove to who? Maybe nothing, either way I think it’s safe to assume it will be interesting.
Beech Mountain, NC — In just over a week the best that the US has to offer will be making their way east to the Beech Mountain Resort, Banner Elk, North Carolina for the 2012 US Gravity National Championships. Will defending champion Logan Binggeli be able to perform another upset over the current fastest man in the world, Aaron Gwin? Does Logan also have something to prove to Aaron’s TWR team mate, Neko Mullaly, related to the recent controversy over the title and carrying the sleeve of National Champion? Or could 2012 be a year that a un-named grassroots rider comes out of the woodwork pinning the time of his career? We’ll find out soon!
Granby Ranch, CO — The Triple DHip is back! This lift-served, 3G-formatted mountain bike stage race is open to all riders, including professionals and amateurs. Racers will compete on three separate race courses at Bike Granby Ranch (formerly SolVista Basin), home of the USA Cycling National Mountain Biking Championships in 2009 and 2010. The prize purse is $2000.
