HIGHLAND, NH — Aaron Chase sessions Highland Bike Park amidst the muck and mire of a New England winter aboard the Pivot Cycles LES Fat. Pivot used the video to announce the release of the LES Fat, its entry into to the big tire arena. The LES Fat accomodates up to a 5-inch tire on 27.5 or 29-inch traditional wheelsets.
As the days grow longer and the mercury rises, the white stuff begins to melt into the sort of primordial muck that makes snaggletoothed Englishmen into the stuff of legend (I’m looking at you, Danny Hart). But that too will soon give way to the tack and loam that only exist in magical fleeting moments upon the calendar or after a summer rain—the sort of dirt that allows any of us ride like gods, offering Velcro-like grip regardless of how on point our cornering skills are after a winter spent hibernating on the sofa. No one will believe how perfectly you roosted that first turn—no one. But until those perfect days are upon us, here are some early spring riding events and races in (mostly) dry and warm destinations to get you riding long before the nostril faucets stop dripping.

SNOWSHOE, WV – Snowshoe Mountain recently updated its 2015 operating hours to extend Saturday and Sunday hours as well as open additional trails on Thursdays and Fridays. In order to balance maintenance and labor hours, the resort will no longer operate Monday through Wednesday, a time when the resort claims low rider numbers.
In what appears to be a misinterpretation of the changes, a petition earlier this week on Change.org asked Snowshoe Mountain to "Keep the Bike Park Open!" The petition, started by Levi Thornton of Spotsylvania, VA, a mountain biker and Chief Technology officer at Washington DC PR firm Seven Twenty Strategies, claims the resort was "...thinking about cutting the park's operation hours by almost half."
WINDHAM, NY–Located in the Catskill Mountains of New York state, the Windham course proved to be one of the most flow-filled stops on the 2014 World Cup circuit. The track was in prime condition for the world's best downhill mountain bikers, who took to the high speed turns and occasional road gap to prove their wit and land a spot on the podium.
