ANGEL FIRE, NM – The historic Chile Challenge returned to Angel Fire Bike Park this year, this time as the third stop of the Pro GRT. More than 200 racers made the pilgrimage to the small town in Northern New Mexico last month, and when the dust settled on the classic World Cup track, our freinds at MTB Mania had captured the action. We got a sneak peak earlier, but the full episode is finally ready. So sit back, relax, open a cold one and press play.
JULY 20, 2015 – The days are already getting shorter, but that doesn't mean there's any shortage of rad stuff happening at bike parks across North America. Here's a look at some races, clinics, competitions and festivals going on at some of our favorite lift-served bike parks across North America. So, if you're still trying to figure out which direction to point 'er in the coming days, hopefully this list provides a bit of insight and inspiration.
ALTA, WY — We were standing with our bikes beside a giant yellow excavator on a big flat square of dirt. In front of us, it looked like something had been taking massive bites out of the green hillside, exposing piles of rock and dark, loamy soil—jackpot, especially in the notoriously rocky Teton region.
MARS HILL, NC – We were pretty stoked when we found out that the first year-round bike park in the U.S. would be opening this season, and last weekend it finally happened. Bailey Mountain Bike Park, just outside of Asheville, NC, kicked off its innaugural season with shuttle access to more than a thousand feet of vert and six trails.
KEYSTONE, CO — Keystone Bike Park played host to the second stop of the Big Mountain Enduro this past weekend, July 11 and 12. This year's race proved to be even more technically challenging than previous BME stops at Keystone with additional double-black diamond trails added into the mix. Spectators gathered at the hot spots and were not disappointed by what was an awesome weekend of racing.
CRESTED BUTTE, CO – The Evolution Bike Park is calling all biking groms to come enjoy the home of mountain biking during the Crested Butte Triple Crown Junior and Collegiate Mountain Bike Race to be held on August 8 and 9, 2015. The event will consist of three disciplines; downhill, cross-country and combined categories.
WHISTLER, BC – Going back to the roots (literally) of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, technical riding is what started it all, but some could say that has been overshadowed recently by the significant development of freeride/flow trails found not only at the Whistler Bike Park, but around the world.
ALTA, WY – When the days grow longer, there's probably only one thing we look forward to as much as loading bikes on chairlifts and cashing in some vert. Summer music festivals are a beacon of the season, and lucky for us, some of the best happen to be at some of our favorite mountain resorts—like Grand Targhee—allowing you to just party down or ride with a soundtrack. This weekend, the 11th Annual Targhee Fest returns July 17 through 19.
July 13, 2015 – Summer's in full swing, and that means there's plenty of races, clinics and even music festivals going on at some of our favorite lift-served bike parks across North America. If you're still trying to figure out what to do this weekend, or next, this run down will help get your wheels pointed in the right direction.
ALTA, WY – Grand Targhee Resort announced it will open 'Rock Garden,' a new signature black diamond downhill mountain bike trail Saturday, July 11. The two-mile trail offers 12 advanced jumps and features, as well as a variety of technical natural terrain. Rock Garden descends 1,809 feet of elevation, the most vertical drop of any trail in the resort's bike park, making it the steepest and one of the most advanced.
