Jackson Hole, WY – Want to know who has the best technical single track on the East Coast? How about the best flow trails in the Rocky Mountains? MtbParks thinks the best way to get the answers to these questions, and many more, is to ask those who know best - local riders.
The initial push of the first-ever MtbParks.com Best Bike Parks Rider Survey was launched during Crankworx at Whistler Mountain Bike Park in August. A handful of resorts helped to promote the survey via social media outlets were rewarded by their fans with an strong showing of support among the 1,000+ initial respondents, who provided a glimpse of some of mountain biking's top resorts.
While the initial response MtbParks received was a great kick-off, the site is now looking for a larger sampling of rider input from all corners of North America. The first group of survey respondents were recruited via social media activity that came primarily from these high ranking resorts.
This time around, to incentivize riders to chime in and share their opinions about where they like to ride, and why, MtbParks.com has ramped up a second round of the survey by adding an impressive list of giveaways to the mix. (For participants who completed the survey during the initial round, and provided a valid email address, they're automatically entered.)
Five separate grand prizes will be awarded, which include lift and lodging pagkages to these top resorts: Angel Fire Bike Park, NM, Attitash Bike Park, NH, Mammoth Bike Park, CA, Mount Snow Bike Park, VT and Trestle Bike Park, CO. Additional prizes are top-shelf as well, and include a BetterRide Skills Camp, Canfield Brothers Crampon Ultimate Pedals (2 sets to be given away), Kali Avatar II Carbon Helmet, Teva Shoes, Goggles from 100%, and more.
In addition to partnering with some great companies to promote the survey, MtbParks.com is also working with decline magazine to share the final results of the survey to produce the first annual Riders Choice Awards. The initial sampling's results appear in the Nov/Dec issue and the final rankings will be featured in the decline's Spring, 2014 issue.
Michelle Good, founder of MtbParks.com sees the rider-driven survey as an opportunity to showcase resorts that are helping grow the niche of lift-access mountain biking. "We can't stress enough how important rider input is for the lift-access bike park network to grow and succeed. Riders are looking for insight from other riders to help plan their summer trips. MtbParks.com was created to help improve that process, and this survey is just one more step in that direction. Rider input will help improve lift-access mountain biking across the board and will help create better experiences for every level of mountain biker, from beginners to pros. If you think your favorite mountain bike park is doing something great, take the survey. If your favorite bike park needs to learn more about building the best trails, take the survey."
