Beech Mountain, NC – Beech Mountain Resort announced recently the addition of a new downhill mountain bike race series for 2014, supported by a team of sponsors, including Cane Creek, Skull Candy, Smith, Dakine, 661, One Industries, Magic Cycles, Giant, The Beech Mountain Brewing Co., and Shimano. The races will be held on three different weekends with roughly 100-200 downhill mountain bike riders expected to show up for each event. Beech Mountain Resort Bike Park is the highest elevation bike park featuring lift access on the East Coast and offers 830' of gravity goodness.
The 2014 race series weekends are July 19-20, Aug 23-24 and Sep 20-21.
Spectators will enjoy wild downhill action and new amenities throughout the resort, including scenic lift rides, the Beech Tree Bar and Grille, open exclusively during the summer, and two exciting, new drinks and dining locations – the Skybar "5506," located at the peak of the mountain, and the new Beech Mountain Brewing Co. Brewery.
2014 Series Schedule begins July 19 & 20, which is also part of the USA Cycling PRO GRT series and runs in conjunction with the "Brews N Views" festival, an annual favorite at Beech Mountain Resort.

Racers will compete in the following categories: Pro Men/Women; Women Open; Men 19-29 CAT 1, 2, 3; Men 30-39 CAT 1, 2, 3; Masters 40+; Juniors 18 and Under; and Juniors 12 and Under.
The mountain bike trails cover a wide range of skill levels and are currently being expanded. Everyone from elite riders to first timers are welcome to ride and participate. A Beginner-friendly track will be available for the racers in the 12 and under category.
Lodging Specials for mountainside accommodations are available to racers. Camping and outside alcohol are strictly prohibited on Beech Mountain Resort property.
