“We’re really looking forward to getting the bike park open for the season,” says Brian Finestone, manager of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. “In addition to the Creek Zone being operational from June 18 to the end of the season this year, we have also been working on some additional trails like Crank It Up More, which will be a great extension to the existing trail offering.”
The Creekside Gondola opened to mountain bikers for the first time ever late last season, offering the mountain's original Creekside base area as an alternate entrance to the park, but this year it operate on the same schedule as the Garbonzo lift from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from June 18 to September 5, then weekends only from September 6 to 18. The Raven's Nest restaurant at the top of Creekside will also open this season.
Other upgrades planned for 2016 include "significant upgrades" for the Learning Zone at mid-station on the Whistler Village Gondola, as well as upgrades to several bike park trails including Freight Train, Easy Does It and Blue Velvet.
