Sun Peaks, BC – To locals, Sun Peaks is home to some of the gnarliest downhill mtb terrain in British Columbia, Canada. And to riders visiting for the weekend's Canada Cup #2 and BC Cup #2 downhill race, they found out exactly how gnarly the riding really is in this small village just outside of Kamloops. One glance at the race results, and you can immediately tell that having some familiarity with the region's terrain definitely played a part in determining your standing at the finish line.
The downhill mtb race started at the top of DH under the Elevation chairlift and dropped nearly 2,000 vertical feet, hitting Holy Rollers and Arm Pump on the way to the finish line. There was a little bit of everything on this course from brake-burning steeps on upper DH to fast berms and rollers on Holy Rollers, tight and technical singletrack on Arm Pump and a high speed finish straight to the base.
