Thunder Mountain Bike Park @ Berkshire East Overview
Thunder Mountain Bike Park is a 2015 Best Bike Park winner in the MTBparks.com Riders' Choice Best Bike Parks Awards for the Northeast Region.
Southern New England’s newest lift-served offering emerged last year, and in just one season, built a dedicated and passionate rider base that shot it to No. 1 in the Northeast rankings. With Gravity Logic at the helm, Berkshire East’s new bike park offers up singletrack smiles for miles with a mix of machine built flow, as well as its share of roots and rocks and dare we even say, East Coast loam.
Opening in 2015, Thunder Mountain Bike Park is Southern New England's newest lift-served mountain bike destination. Under the direction of the trail masters at Gravity Logic, trail work began in the fall of 2014. Thunder Mountain Bike Park is located on the slopes of Berkshire East Ski Area, and the name Thunder Mountain is an homage to the original name of the ski area, whose first trails were cut in the 1950s.
Berkshire East is in the midst of an renaissance. Currently the only ski area in the world to produce 100 percent of its electricity from onsite renewable energy, Berkshire East installed a new quad chairlift and North America's longest mountain coaster in the fall of 2014, is home to Berkshire East Canopy Tours, as well as Berkshire Whitewater.
