Mammoth Bike Park is a three-time Top Five winner in the MTBparks.com Riders' Choice Best Bike Parks Awards for the Southwest Region.
The Mammoth Mountain Bike Park was one of the first bike parks in the country, and it continues to stay at the forefront. The bike park has in excess of 80 miles of dirt singletrack with an impressive 3,000 feet of vertical descent and features amazing scenery, from expansive vistas to close encounters with towering pines.
WHAT TO EXPECT RIDING AT MAMMOTH
With trails like Pipeline, Recoil, Velocity and Shock Treatment, Mammoth continues to be one of the leader in gravity fed downhill and jump trails in the Southwestern United States.
The Discovery Zone, where beginner and intermediate trails wind through beautiful Jeffrey Pines is our industry leading area dedicated to kids, families and first timers, but with just enough playfulness to keep the more advanced riders entertained. Looking to hammer up the mountain on that new lightweight cross-country rig? Or maybe cruise around the mountain on some intriguing intermediate trails? This is your spot. Mammoth is the ideal location for taking on gravity and pedaling under your own power.
Mammoth has added 7 new trails in the last 3 seasons, which is almost unheard of for well-established bike parks. With easy cross-country trails, gnarly downhills and everything between, it’s the variety of terrain that separates Mammoth from other bike parks. Beginners can comfortably progress and hone their skills in designated areas, and downhillers and freeriders have a myriad of challenging trails to push their bike handling abilities.
Mammoth has been working hard to create a well-rounded bike park experience with the goal of offering something for everyone and continues to deliver season after season.
What's New at Mammoth Mountain Bike Park
2014 saw the trail crew step up in a major way. After finishing construction on the “Front Porch,” the team went to work on DC-10, a pro-level downhill trail that had been eroded by large snow years. The addition of six jumps and some incredible berms were added mid-way down the trail for those looking to flick one sideways in between trees, rocks and the radical terrain that makes up Upper and Lower Dry Creek. Velocity, Lower Twilight Zone, White Bark and Shotgun also got substantial face-lifts.
In 2015 the trail crew plans to finish Recoil, an expert jump trail that winds its way down from mid (McCoy) station. It has become one of the most popular trails, and once completed, riders will be able to session over 35 jumps, hips, berms and drops utilizing the gondola.
Big news for those that like to hammer downhill: the trail crew will be working on Upper Velocity and opening it this summer along with Shock Treatment, Toll Road and a few more tasty additions throughout the summer. On the intermediate front we will be building an intermediate trail from mid station back to the bottom gondola. This will provide the perfect step for advanced beginner’s looking to make the jump and be able to ride the whole mountain.

Mammoth Mountain Bike Park offers over 80 miles of scenic cross-country single track and heart-thumping downhills. Being the biggest bike park in the West allows the park to offer terrain for every ability — even if you've yet to experience the fun of mountain biking. Beginners can take the Discovery Chair to access beginner terrain and get more comfortable on the handful of the accessible trails. More experienced riders can take the Panorama Gondola to the mid-station or summit for intermediate-advanced terrain to experience some of the trails that put Mammoth on the map.
Give the world-class Bullet DH a try, or the freestyle features found on Twilight Zone and Recoil for a thrill. Looking for your first foray into downhill? Start with a run down Follow Me or Shotgun.
For the ultimate top-to-bottom downhill experience take the heart-pounding and legendary Kamikaze. One of the fastest descents you’ll ever ride, it gives way to a challenging freeride trail and a series of wooden ramps dubbed Shock Treatment before flowing into the new Kamikaze Jump Run. After that? Still not done – you still have to ride down Richter.
If you're looking to mix it up a bit, another top-to-bottom favorite is Skid Marks to Bullet. Skid Marks is steep, rocky and complete with tight turns and Bullet is a well-established, world-class downhill.
Pipeline Trail (difficult): The future of freeride at Mammoth — metal, wood, and dirt ramps, take the blue line for tables, or the black line for required gaps. You'll also find platforms and wallrides along the way as well!
